Aslin Dane Icosa-4 Bass – A New Standard in Thinline Acoustic Bass
The Aslin Dane Icosa-4 is a thinline acoustic-electric bass guitar that delivers a bold new approach to tone, structure, and playability. With a hollowed solid mahogany body, solid Sitka spruce top, and advanced internal pier system, this instrument offers unmatched clarity, responsiveness, and comfort—whether unplugged or amplified.
At just 1-7/8” (47.5 mm) thick at the sides, the Icosa-4 provides the feel of an electric with the warmth and resonance of a true acoustic.

Innovative Architecture for Rich, Resonant Bass
Unlike traditional acoustic basses or even our own Icosa guitars, the Icosa-4 Bass features a unique A-bracing system and internal mahogany piers beneath the bridge. These piers act as load-bearing elements to support the top and braces, creating a hybrid character—not just acoustic-electric, but a true electric-acoustic in structure and feel.
The back and sides are carved from a single block of mahogany, entirely hollowed out to create a naturally resonant tone chamber. The solid Sitka spruce top (or laminated option) is domed larger than typical acoustic instruments, increasing dynamic response and air movement within the thin body.
• Rosette: Inlaid Rosewood
• Body Binding: Multi-ply (top and back)

Precision Engineering, Handcrafted Finish
To ensure the domed top mates seamlessly with the body, CNC-machined bearing edges are used—allowing for perfect alignment across the guitar’s complex radial surfaces. The rest of the instrument is built by hand, preserving the soul and warmth of handcrafted construction.
The rosewood bridge features a compensated Graph Tech saddle, while the Piezo transducer beneath it drives a responsive active preamp system.

Electronics
Powered by a 9V battery in a rear recessed compartment, the active preamp includes:
• 1 Master Volume
• 1 Center-Notched Tone Control (boost/cut treble)
• 1 Center-Notched Bass Control (boost/cut bass)
This minimalist yet versatile layout gives you full control over your tone in live or recording environments.

Neck & Fingerboard
The neck is constructed from three-piece quarter-sawn hard rock maple, reinforced with graphite rods and equipped with a dual-action truss rod accessible at the headstock. It’s joined to the body via a reinforced mortise and tenon joint for long-term stability.
